| Fried Frank Promotes Two to Special Counsel |

Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobson LLP announced today that Joseph J. LoBue and Michael A. Umayam have been promoted to special counsel. Joseph J. LoBue is an attorney in the Firm's Litigation Department in Washington, DC. He has a diverse practice that includes securities, antitrust, commercial, intellectual property, real estate, and government contracts litigation matters. In recent years his work has focused increasingly on international arbitration, including many matters that include complex technical and engineering issues. Mr. LoBue received his JD, magna cum laude, from Catholic University of America, Columbus Law School and his BE from The Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art. Upon graduation from Cooper Union, he embarked on a career as an officer and aviator in the United States Navy. He is presently a Commander in the United States Naval Reserve. He is admitted to practice in the District of Columbia and in New York. Michael A. Umayam is an attorney in the Firm's Securities Enforcement and Regulation Group in Washington, DC. His practice involves representing clients in government investigations conducted by the United States Securities and Exchange Commission, offices of various United States Attorneys and states' Attorneys General, and self regulatory organizations, involving potential allegations such as insider trading, accounting fraud, illegal earnings management, disclosure violations, and potential allegations involving various rules and regulations affecting broker-dealers, investment advisers, hedge funds, private equity firms, public companies and corporate officers. He has been involved in numerous litigation matters, including contested enforcement proceedings before self-regulatory organizations. Mr. Umayam received his JD, magna cum laude, from Catholic University of America, Columbus Law School, where he was a member of Catholic University Law Review and a Moot Court Associate. He received his BA from The College of William & Mary. He began his legal career as a law clerk for the United States Attorney's Office, Appellate Division, in Washington DC. He is admitted to practice in the District of Columbia and Virginia and before the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth and District of Columbia Circuits, the United States District Courts for the Eastern District of Virginia, the Western District of Virginia and the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Virginia. |
